Backlash Winston Marks
They were the perfect servants—they were willing to do everything for nothing. The obvious question is: How much is nothing? When an alien spaceship crashlands in Maine, the aliens need asylum. The aliens offer to provide the humans with robots called the Soth to perform servant duties. The aliens even help the humans to manufacture and sell the Soth. But what price will the humans need to pay for this supposedly cheap labor? This classic science fiction short story by Winston Marks (1915-1979) first appeared in Galaxy Science Fiction in January 1954.
