Star Trek

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Her five-year mission: to explore strange, new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone.

The original Star Trek TV series aired on NBC between 1966 and 1969. At a time when most people’s perception of science fiction was limited to King Kong and The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Star Trek set a new standard for science fiction.

Created by the legendary Gene Roddenberry, Star Trek explored the future and explained the events of our own time. At a time when America and her allies were locked in a titantic cold war with the Soviet Union and Red China, the Star Trek federation was locked in the same struggle with the Klingons and Romulans.

Millions watched Star Trek every week until NBC executives went insane and inexplicably cancelled the best-loved science fiction TV show of all time. Star Trek lived on in reruns, a cartoon series, and Star Trek conventions until Paramount brought out the first Star Trek movie in 1979. Five more movies with the original cast followed, as well as, to date, four more TV series (The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise) – none of which aired on NBC. In addition, four Next Generation movies have been released.
