Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Luke is now a fully trained Jedi knight. With his friends Leia, Lando, Chewbacca, and the two robots, they infiltrate Jabba's fortress to rescue Han Solo. The rescue takes a wrong turn, however, and the would-be rescuers are captured by the giant slug.

Apparently, Jabba finds human women more interesting than giant slug women because he dresses Leia in a metal bikini and makes her his slave. All is not lost, however. Jabba tries to feed Luke and Han, freshly thawed out, to a giant carnivorous sand worm, but they turn the tables on him. Leia kills Jabba by sprinkling salt on him (actually she chokes him with a chain), and our heroes leave to do battle with the empire.

Luke then returns to Degaba to complete his training with Yoda. But the master Jedi drops dead, but not before confirming that Darth Vader is actually Anakin Skywalker, Luke's dad.

Luke finds out from Obi Wan's ghost that Leia is actually his sister, narrowly avoiding incest (fortunately she prefers Han Solo, who has a bigger box office appeal). Our heroes then go off to a forest moon, meet the cute and furry Ewok people, and destroy the rebuilt Death Star while Luke battles Darth Vader in a light saber duel.

Vader seems to have no compunction about killing his son, but when his boss, the evil emperor, tries to finish the job, Vader rescues Luke by throwing the emperor into a bottomless pit. As in a Wagnerian opera, Vader then drops dead.

The people Vader was trying to kill celebrate by cremating his corpse while the ghosts of Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and the now-redeemed Anakin Skywalker smile and chat together.

Directed by Richard Marquand, this is Episode VI in the series.
