Action Comedy "Clockstoppers" Thrills, Entertains

Who hasn't fantasized about being able to stop time and move things around? A watch with this power drops into the hands of Zak (Jesse Bradford), a teenager who yearns for speed. He uses it to impress Francesca (Paula Garces), the beautiful girl he's got a crush on, but soon they both find themselves running from a corporation led by a ruthless executive (Michael Biehn from The Terminator) who wants the watch at all costs.

The watch has been loaned to Zak's dad, a topflight physicist, by an employee of the corporation. After the father leaves for a conference, Zak finds the watch and puts it on, thinking it is only a watch. While visiting Francesca, Zak pushes the button to check the time and time appears to stop. In reality, the watch enables the wearer to move at hyper speed, so that everything just appears to stop. However, Zak, and anyone who is touching him when he activates hyper-time, is moving at what appears to be a normal speed.

Zak is stunned at first but eventually realizes what has happened and, as a typical teenage boy, proceeds to have some fun with it, along with the girl he wants to impress.

Of course, the evil corporate executive soon finds out that Zak has the watch and sends his minions to get it back. This leads to grave danger for Zak, his dad and Zak's new girlfriend and also provides for some fun car chase scenes.

The movie is directed by Jonathan Frakes, who played Commander Riker on Star Trek, the Next Generation.
